"Caps Lock" light ok, but no display on monitor:
!IMPORTANT! These instructions assume that you have first done trouble-shooting
here, and you can cycle the "Caps Lock" light on your keyboard despite no display on monitor. The instructions below will help determine if the monitor is bad or if there is a cable connection issue
Power up the CNC and watch the monitor for any indication:
- LCD (color) Monitor
- If the monitor is getting power but not signal, it will then go blank. See "No Signal to Monitor" below.
- If no message is displayed, the monitor could be bad or the cable that provides 12 volt power could be bad. See "No Power to Monitor" below.
- CRT (amber) Monitor
The CRT monitor will have no display if it has no power or no signal.
- To check for power, set control power on and put DC voltmeter leads between pin 1 and pin 7 of If you measure about 12 vdc, see "No Signal to Monitor" below.
- If you do not measure about 12 vdc see "No Power to Monitor" below.
No Signal to Monitor:
- LCD Monitor: If "no signal" or similar message is briefly displayed, the monitor is powering up, but may be disconnected from the computer. Turn off the CNC, then and verify that the is plugged in. If the monitor is plugged in, first try unplugging and replugging it. Replace the front panel, being careful not to pinch any wires between chassis and front panel. Power up the CNC: If the symptom is the same, any VGA desktop monitor can be temporarily plugged in. If the desktop monitor displays normal boot-up messages, replace the monitor (part number 995-16-019).
- CRT Monitor: If you measure about 12 vdc between pin 1 and pin 7 on the edge connector, there is power to the monitor, but the monitor may be disconnected from the computer. Turn off the CNC, then and verify that the is plugged in. If the monitor is plugged in, first try unplugging and replugging it. Replace the front panel, being careful not to pinch any wires between chassis and front panel. Power up the CNC: If the symptom is the same, the monitor may have failed. If you have another OmniTurn with amber monitor, you could borrow that monitor and replace suspect bad monitor to verify failure. If the monitor has failed, order "LCD Monitor Kit", p/n 995-16-019.
No Power to Monitor:
- LCD Monitor: If no message is displayed on monitor when CNC is powered up, the monitor may be disconnected from the 12 power, or it may be defective. Turn off the CNC, then remove the blue cover. Locateconnection on the . Unplug J7, and examine the wires to insure they are both connected, and replug J7. Power up the CNC while watching the monitor for any display. If no display, measure DC volts across the if voltage is 12 to 13 volts, replace the monitor (part number 995-16-019).
- CRT Monitor: If no message is displayed on monitor when CNC is powered up, the monitor may be disconnected from the 12 power, or it may be defective. Turn off the CNC, then remove the blue cover. Locateconnection on the . Unplug J7, and examine the wires to insure they are both connected, and replug J7. Power up the CNC while watching the monitor for any display. If no display, measure DC volts across the if voltage is 12 to 13 volts, recheck voltage between pin 1 and pin 7 on the If you have 12 to 13 volts here, the monitor has failed: order "LCD Monitor Kit", p/n 995-16-019.
